23 Jul MGC to engage in Strengthening and Capacity Building of Agricultural Communities
MGC was recently awarded two projects to engage in Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building of two district level Farmer Organizations by the Smallholder Agribusiness Partnership (SAPP) funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), under the purview of the Ministry of Mahaweli, Agriculture, Irrigation and Rural Development.
The two projects will focus on strengthening the Bandarawela District Milk Producers Society and the Badulla District Greenhouse Grower’s Society. The key outcome expected of the consultancy are guidance and support for the two organizations to become commercial oriented business entities with provision of technical assistance and capacity building in key areas such as governance and management, market intelligence, collective bulk marketing, post-harvest management, business plan development, production development, technology, financial literacy and establishing linkages with financial institutions etc.
The contracts for the two projects were signed at the SAPP office in Rajagiriya on 20th June 2020 by Nalini Senasekera, Director/ CEO, MGC and Dr.Yasantha Mapatuna, Project Director, SAPP.
